One day late in June 1977, five storied buildings, towed by tug boats, were slowly moving on the sea off the coast of Matsuyama, Ehime Prefecture and reached to Saudi Arabia. In this particularly congested part of Seto Island Sea where traffic is generally heavy, the sight of these white buildings were attracted by passers-by.
They are the world’s biggest floating hotels built for ARAMCO who is an officially the Saudi Arabian Oil Company.
Total 4 plants were built and delivered; named Rabibah & Subayti accommodating for 1,500 men per plant and Safi & Bayadah for 750 men per plant, accommodating total 4,500 men.
